New Year’s Work Resolutions!

After an excellent suggestion from a contact on twitter to take a look at Edmodo as an example of a microblogging service I started thinking about what I would be focussing on in the new academic year in my own professional practice at school.

The obvious tasks are as follows

  1. Teach my lessons
  2. Get all CW marked
  3. Ensure my students do well!

I think the above list is an obvious given :) What about beyond that?  2009 has been a pretty banner year for me in terms of changes in ICT.  I came to late to the party on the power of RSS and have been using Twitter pretty much on a daily basis for about half a year now.  Those two services have pretty much radically reshaped how I am using and understanding ICT and education.

So what will I be trying to different this year?  I think definitely this year will be about trying to get realistic, safe and educationally appropriate social networking established at my school.  The possible way I will be doing this is through Edmodo which was suggested to me by @josepicardo on twitter.  This is a fantastic little system which I think could revolutionise how teachers and students interact and manage their learning.

What else will I try and do differently this year?  Blog more frequently on educational issues.  Lets see how this one goes …

Till next time

Brian
