I’m sure those who live in the world of geekness (who actually are interested in what microsoft and google are doing … i must just say it is refreshing being married to someone who isn’t interested at all – perspective!) will probably be aware of the arrival of bing.com
Ive tried it for a bit and to be honest I was hardly impressed at all. Im a confirmed googlehead in just about every online service I use so it would have had to have been special to get me to use it a bit. All I see so far is a spruced up basic engine which looks slightly like what ask.com provides.
I think the final word on this can be provided by a slightly throwaway line from the brilliant Monty Python film The Meaning of Life. In the youtube video below John Cleese says it at about 1:02 minutes into the video. He probably says ping rather than bing but the way he uses it to refer to an irrelevant machine which adds absolutely nothing to what needs to happen could become an apt way of thinking about bing.com.
